Pacific Rim Informative
Adventures offers private
kayak courses which give you a quality experience and allow you
to learn kayaking skills quickly. If you have a special request,
Pacific Rim Informative Adventures will be glad to offer you
a customized course to fulfil your needs. Whether you are a beginner
paddler or intermediate or advanced, we have courses for your
skill level. Group sizes are very small: the maximum is four
students per instructor but usually there is only two students
for each instructor. Our objective is to give you the highest
quality instruction on the West Coast. Learn faster in a safe
and fun environment!
Wet
suit, PFD, kayak, paddles and all kayak
safety gear are provided for all courses.
Stay and Play! If you require accommodation ask us about our
package deal when you book a course.
1) Rolling Clinic
Content: Learn how to roll
your kayak and practice low and high braces.
Duration: 3 hours
Prices : One person: $90 each
Two people: $70 each
*Maximum two students per instructor.

2) Introduction to Kayaking
Learn kayaking basics.
Course content: kayak gear, kayak components, safety
devices, getting in, getting out, wet exits, edging, low braces,
high braces, pivot turn, forward stroke, reverse stroke, sweep
stroke, sculling draw, draw stroke.
Duration: 3 hours
Prices: One person: $90 each
Two people: $80 each
Three people: $70 each
Four people: $60 each

3) Self
Rescue and Assisted Rescue
Learn how to do
a self rescue and an assisted rescue. Be ready to get wet! The
course is held on the ocean or on a lake.
Course content: self rescue with a paddle float, self
rescue without a paddle float, TX rescue, parallel rescue, stirrup
rescue, swimming with a paddle, carrying a swimmer, scoop rescue,
hand of God.
Duration: 3 hours
Prices: One person: $90 each
Two people: $80 each
Three people: $70 each

4) One Day Course
This intense course will give
you the skills to be self-efficient during day trips. The course
is held on ocean or lake waters.
Course content: Kayak Basics, kayak gear, kayak components,
safety devices, getting in, getting out, wet exits, edging
Strokes: low braces, high braces, forward stroke,
reverse stroke, sweep stroke, sculling draw, low brace turn,
pivot turn, draw stroke
Rescues: self rescue with a paddle float,
self rescue without a paddle float,
TX rescue, parallel rescue, stirrup rescue, swimming with a paddle,
carrying a swimmer, scoop rescue, hand of God
Towing: single towing, V towing, train towing,
towing a swimmer, contact tow

5) Two Day Course
This intense course will give

7) Aquattack
Outdoor Leadership Program
The objective of this program
is to develop leadership, kayak and outdoor skills for West Coast
Youth and to increase their local employment opportunities.
Kayak guides and outdoor leaders are in high demand for local
businesses on the West Coast. This program is recognized by the
Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia (SKGABC) as a Day
Guide Training Program. This training program includes an intense
multi-day trip in Broken Group Islands (5 days). All students
will also have the opportunity to work as an apprentice with Coastal
Knights Adventure Tours in Ucluelet during the summer
to further develop their skills. This program will primarily
train youth with little or no kayak experience to become future
kayak guides.

8) Day-Guide Training
Course
This program will train participants
with previous kayak experience to increase their kayaking skills. This is of
particular value to those wishing to go on and become certified
kayak guides. This program is recognized by the Sea Kayak Guides
Alliance of British Columbia (SKGABC). The cost of the exam is
included in the program.

offer you a customized course to meet your needs.
Prerequisites for all the
courses
- Participants must sign a waiver
and a medical form prior to all courses
- Participants must be comfortable
in water and be able to swim
Booking and Cancellation Policy
- courses require full payment
at the time of booking
- 7% GST to be added to all
prices
- all prices in Canadian funds
- all payments are non-refundable:
credit will be issued towards a future booking
- payments are only refundable
when courses are cancelled due to
adverse weather condition.
